If you are not doing the install yourself, after you get bids, call me. I could use a winter project. Besides the REPU, the Z, more work on the widebody and the extra GSL I'm sitting on. lol

You never sold the prepped shell? That's too bad, sorry to hear that. Maybe at the end of next summer, provided that I can get my internship back, i'll look into the bead blasting and epoxy coating/chassis coating. I'd rather give my business to a forum member that I've seen their work and like it than give it to one of the local hacks that is around here. Before I get the body media blasted or even start to buy parts I have to learn how to weld so I can do alot of the install myself, and mount up the front suspension. My breakdown doesn't even inculde the interior.

Sale is still pending for the shell, not confirmed with cash in hand yet. Looks like it will be going to Canada. I was refering the the 3rd GSL I have that I need to put together one of these days.

I'd be more than happy to help on your build. Sounds like a 1st class project and a rare opportunity to put some of my skill to thier best use. With the projected costs you have listed, I can save you a good deal of that.

Learning how to weld by seam welding the chassis will be difficult and I can't recommend it as a good place to start. If you are having a cage installed, let the installer do that part.

I was quoted at about 2500ish shipped. By any chance do you know the price of those Work Meister s1's?

Haha everyone is going for the CCW Classics now after how awesome they look on your car luiml73!

Sounds like your plan for rims is the exact as mine though, black anodized face, chrome lip. CCW classics 17x10 front 17x12 rear.

And 45k for low end guess, damn man your nuts, very awesome project.

Why thank you for the nice words . My family thinks that I'm insane for wanting to drop this kind of coin on my "death trap" as they call it. I was just going off of their prices on their website, with the Classics starting at ~$2,550 for a base price and going up from there, with powder and such being add-on costs. I'll have to look up the Work Meister s1's and see what they look like. I'm a fan of the Classics becuase they're three piece and are completely custom fit for me.

I'll DEFINATELY keep you in mind when I get the money around to start on this. I'm a big fan of your attention to detail (being **** about doing stuff right, if you will).

I was planning on taking a welding class at the local Community College before I started on this project. I'm going to be heading back to Michigan Tech this fall, and i'm also going to attempt to learn to weld by joining their Formula SAE team. They teach mig and tig for free, provided that you will work on the chassis of the car.

If I was still young, that is an opportunity I would jump at without a second thought. Enjoy it, I'm jealous.

I voted GTO, as it's the kit I'd buy when I had enough money Mind you, we don't get those things as "cheap" as you do... I live in Europe, where nothing is available for these cars. Buying a kit in the USA means heavy shipping bills, and about 36% of import taxes.
I do like my car now too, of course (Mariah mode one widebody with custom sideskirts).
Indeed, as said before, the kits you mention are probable not going to last too long on the street. They aren't meant to be mounted to the car the way we want for street use either, unless you really like rear fenders that are mounted by DZUSS fasteners

I'm going to look into doing alot of reinforcement, on the inside and outside of the fenders. Maybe even see if I can get the company to double up on the fiberglass inside the fenders to give it alot more stregnth. I'd pay extra for that so they would hold up better to street use.

I'd let the installer take care of any extra reinforcement.
