Yeh what the problem with Fram?
Been using them for years, and never had a problem. Why do you hate them, what is the technical reason they are inferior to other offerings in the market?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Several studites were done, (I have the bookmarks at home.) and Fram was said to have some of the least filter material, lower quality bypass valves, poorer flow, and other factors which I can't recall. I used Fram and never had trouble.
My dad still uses Fram, although he's trying Puralator and other brands as a trial as well as other oils, including synthetics on his Saab 9000 Turbo.
I'm running a Puralator on my Honda now. 7 will get a filter to replace the Fram Double Guard after I get a house and place to store it.
When I was shopping for filters at Pep Boys, I looked a the Pro brand that comes in the silver/black box (I forgot what the actual brand name of it is.) and the Puralator that comes in the white/blue box. I saw more pleats through the holes in the Puralator than on the Pro brand. I got the Puralator based on that.

I sold parts for years, I've sold many filter brands. Fram filters sell themselves. They are the best advertised filter on the market. They are about the cheapest made filter available. Find a store that sells Wix filters. Wix has (or at least used to have) a cut-away display with various brands of filters. These are not gimmicks, I watched them cut open filters I supplied. Look at the way Wix is made compared to a Fram, and you'll never buy another Fram. I wouldn't use one for free.

I read one of those studies from Consumer Reports about Fram. They took one of the original Fram filters in the orange box and tested it. It basically sucked. That's when Fram came out with their Extra Guard and whatever else they have now.
I use K&N and the stock dealer filter, depending how much money I have when the oil change comes. I really like the K&N... it's almost twice as tall than stock and they are much easier to take off with the integrated 1" nut on top, but sometimes the lack of loot doesn't allow me to go that way.

There isn't anything wrong with Fram, I've used them for years on all my cars. I also sold them for 4 years.
Where I used to work there were "Wear Guard" and the teflon ones that I think were called Extra Guard.
Back in the 80s I belive that Fram had some crappy filters but they REALLY cleaned up their act.
I think there is one other Fram filter below the Wearguard, but I'm not sure. The article on the net calling fram **** was done a LONG time ago.
I could go on, just do a search on the forum and you'll find lots of info.
