Why shoudl I not buy a Weber 44 IDF?

Any reasons why I should not get a Weber 44 IDF for my mystery 12a? Nikki keeps sheeding parts during race days and dumping fuel on corners. Looking for a decent alternative for under $300. Rumor has it the holley's have corner slosh as well, though no one has really made a specific post about the best cheap carb option for cornering!

Nice carbs them, however.

I was on the phone with the Canadian distributor for Weber carbs, he races an FB and says the 45 DCOE will be the carb of choice.

Seems my goal budget of $300 to get a good carb will just not work. I need help brain storming. Cornering is #1 priority.

well #1 carbs aren't cheap. once you buy the carb, jets/filters/venturi's ect, its comparable to EFI.

so the best cheap carb is the nikki, because it came with the car, so your cost is the gasket set and some jets, and floats, and maybe a pressure regulator....

the holley isn't cheap, and since we put it on the engine sideways, it sucks in corners.

the weber IDA is fine in corners, but its probably $700-1000 when its all set up properly.

i lack info about the mukini/dellorto, probably like the weber

If your big issue with the nikki is breakup on corners due to slosh in the bowl then thats fixable
for under $30.00. You need to get the RX3 floats and swap them in and I hear that resolves
most of the issue. The other half is finely tuning your fuel pressure so its just on the edge and
does over power the floats as well.

I agree the 44 is probably a bit small. I run the Dell 48 (similiar to the DCOE but bigger) and it
still has corner issues too. Until fuel injection was invented, fuel slosh on corners has always
nagged racers thru the years. Smaller the bowls and gross jets helps things like this. Its
why you have multiple small carbs on things like alfas and ferraris. Better fuel management.

I have NO issues with fuel slosh on my 45 DCOE. But like everyone said I spent like $500 on jets alone to get it set up perfectly. And I still change them regularly depending on what I am doing.

WA i hate holleys for that reason

had way to many crappy holleys on my v8s and will never run them if u want a four barrell try a edelbrock they are set up so the floats are one the sides not front to back. the weber is a great carb but its lackluster in my opinion to a four barrel and to much fuel at low rpms too..... 500cfm edelbrock like 250$ in jegs or summit catalog

I've recommended to use "number/index drill bits" for that reason.
