Why are racing beat mufflers so quiet?

Anyone got just a racing beat muffler & can hardly hear their car?

If I turn up the music I can hardly hear my revs I don't think a cop would hear me 15 feet away at redline

might need headers, or a different muffler what do you guys got there?

I miss the way my fc sounded with the dual motoria exhaust, so deep and rumbly

The RB mufflers for the S3 are stupidly quiet. I had one on my car and ended up getting rid of it because it sounded like a hair dryer, even with RB headers and a straight pipe back to the muffler. Probably because it's the one with the Tiny 2" exhaust pipe, I bet the other versions have a better sound. My new exhaust should consist of an unused Rotary Engineering header, long primaries into a Borla PRO XS muffler just before the axle, and 2.5" out the back with a cheap ebay dumpy tip muffler to keep the heat off my bumper.

Yeah it's extremely quiet like my friends old lexus is louder

The other ones have two pipes, are smaller too...

All I can hear is the engine it's self

after running headers straight piped to an ebay fart can your set up sounds like a hell of a deal, it's like a limp dick, can't beat it lol

but now i have a silencer and a damn nice can on the back, i'm loving the sound quality and quietness. it may be slightly quieter than my old set up w/out the headers

I had a corksport cat-back on my fc and then motoria duals.

I got used to loud exhaust, oh yeah I also had just the corksport pipe after the cat before the muffler cause some idiots stole my muffler.... got pulled over once only too, geez that must of hurt peoples ears lol

They are quiet because the Fb mufflers are not straight through design. They are a chambered designed muffler like 99% of factory mufflers. They quiet way too well, but are much better flowing than most stock designs.

I just put a complete exhaust system on my 1980 SA and it's loud.

I put an RB road race header with dual pipes to an RB dual inlet muffler. No presilencers.

It has a nice rumble at idle, put really screams when you get on it. Anything above 3500 RPM lets people know you're coming.

That's because you have what they call a "street port" system. The different year mufflers they offer represent different grades of loudness and performance. Both Cmanns and I have the most quiet and conservative of the racing beat mufflers.

For the record, I have a RB Streetable Header and straight pipe back to the dual inlet RB Muffler. Its a really deep and quiet sound, with a bit of a buzz. I personally would like to go louder.

I'm running a RB header and presilencer to a Borla muffler and I'm pretty happy with the volume level. It's deceptively quiet inside the car, but outside it gets pretty loud when you put your foot down. Problem is that it's 2" all the way back, meaning it's more restrictive than I'd like. The same system in 2.5" (with maybe a second presilencer to offset the extra noise of the larger pipe) would be ****.

What you need is the universal racing beat mufflers. Great quality, and sound. Plus they are around $100. Better flow too

It is called a "muffler" for a reason.

Had my RB for years. Nice and quiet until you step on it a bit. I've had guys at meets say they can't even tell if my car is running when it's at idle.

Yeah, my car is also too quiet. At the track whenever I hit the apex, the instructor was chiding me to get on the gas. The pedal was floored! No sound through the helmet and no power. This is with a stripped interior. By the end of the day, since Pocono has no sound restrictions, I pulled the muffler off and just ran the straight pipe. Can you hear me now? Good!

With my turbo upgrade that I'm putting in, I should have a good time hearing my turbo spin as I think that is all that I will hear.

I thought someone was going to re-release that exhaust, or something like that.

The answer is simple, it's cuz racing beat makes products for middle aged men, now don't get me wrong I have nothing against their products, but their mufflers are just not my cup of tea.

Sad sad, sadly. I guess he needed to show interest for it, if it did come back I'm sure they'd be very expensive though

True that, middle age men with deep pockets I didn't buy the RB muffler, I would of gone the route of having a muffler shop custom mount a borla, mmm borla mufflers

When I look at the RB muffler, it looks like it weighs like 30lbs lol

Am I one of the only people who like a quiet car?

My car has a deep, throaty sound to it and I want it quieter.

I had the factory exhaust blob, 2 cats, to a 2" straight pipe followed by a Thrush Turbo (for a temporary fix) muffler.

It sounded okay I guess, but Im one for quiet cars unless its my dads Coronet R/T. Hit the gas, watch the car shake, listen to it rumble.

Now I have a Rotary Engineering header, 2 presilencers which leads to nothing until now. This thread helped me decide on the RB mufflers. Thanks!
