No, it is not stock!

I must be missing the point.
The catalog reference doesn't seem to show an illustration of the kit installed. Why not?
The belt does not look like a standard v-belt. Does it require special pulleys? If so, where are they and what do they cost?
What is the benefit of this kit compared to the standard setup?
I have always liked the stock setup because it is right on top for easy access and easy belt adjustment. I have owned a lot of these cars and never had a problem with the stock alternator installation.

I'm interested in it if it makes the lightweight racing style alternators easy to mount without building custom stuff.
The stock alternator gets in the way of the Weber 48 IDA airbox I've got. Had to make some cutouts for the alternator to fit, even when using an SE or 2nd gen alternator. The 1st gen alternator is way to big.
So I guess my question to atkins would be what alternators is this kit designed for?

The advantage of these types of setups:
- cleans up top on engine
- moves the weight of the alt lower
- more belt contact area with waterpump to reduce belt slippage. Could prevent the need for running dual alt belts when removing the airpump.

This is awesome! I thought that I was out of luck with this getting this set-up since pineapple dropped it. Now I can keep the top of my keg uncluttered.

I agree totally. I don't know what's up with that belt. It doesn't look like a v-belt to me either. I like the alt relocation setup that Blake/Pineapple racing had. They had a version with a heim joint for easy alt belt adjustment.

This Atkins setup looks more robust.
Yes, any side mount setup will increase belt wrap, but I don't think it's necessary if you're running a serpentine belt. The stock location with a serpentine is essentially what Mazda has on the RX-8 (and I have on my car), with no issues.
Lastly, Guru Racing in Australia offers a similar setup. Theirs has been around for years, and I even bought one. The Guru unit has the benefit of anodized pieces, snazzier machining, with the downside of a much higher pricetag. Their setup placed my alternator pulley in the wrong plane, and I was in a rush to put the car back together, so it's still on a shelf.

I believe the Pineapple Racing setup was discontinued due to some durability concerns. The steel structure was fairly narrow where it made the 90 deg turn for the alternator pivot attachment. Blake told me (God rest his soul) that there were some failures, especially on engines that had competition or solid engine mounts. As for the heim joints, Pineapple stopped offering those because customers would over-tension the belt, causing alt. bearing failures.

Curious would you have picture of the Guru one?
