why is oil here?

why is oil here?

i have an 84 gs and have found that not only am i leaking oil out of the front cover around the pully i am leaking oil around the carb it is a nikki but it is settling on the black plastic plate that seperates the linkage from the carb you guys know what om talking about right anyways does anyone know why the would be oil leaking from there. i have an extra motor that is leakless and has great compression so im not really worried about the oil but am curious as to the cause of this?

Most likely the leakage is from one of the Oil Metering pump lines. It could be loose or cracked, and its just pumping oil onto your intake manifold.

i dont think it is i thought the same thing but when i looked i didnt see any oil leaking from the lines when idling. anything else.

The oil from the OMP goes at a REALLY slow rate, so you wouldnt see a constant drip or anything, and the higher the RPMs the faster it comes out. So I wouldnt expect it to be visable at an idle. Look at the lines carefully for cracks or breaks, and make sure the rubber ends are fitted tightly onto the carb fittings. The lines are probably very brittle, so be careful with them.

sorry for resurrecting this thread, but how can I replace my OMP lines? I read someone used weed wacker fuel line. Is this something I can do too, or do I have to get these exact lines? I noticed when removing my alternator, I had a 2 inch section of one of the hoses missing.....

Somewhere between $20 and $30 for a new pair of these lines from Mazda.

Is there any other place than the dealership or online I can get some new lines? This way I don't have to wait a friggin' week or two for them to come in.
