Why to keep the floor swept when working on the 7

Yesterday I'm putting in a fuel hard line. I'm slidding around on the floor trying to get the damn thing in while trying to get my body in a useful possition. All of the sudden it feels like something bit me in my shoulder blade area. I get up quick and start brushing of my back... didn't see anything fall off and no bitting things under the car. Pull off the shirt and fell around back there, I do feel a little bump but I just think now it was a pimple that popped or something like that. Get back down and the feeling comes back... I finish what I was doing with the line and go inside.

Looking in the mirror I still see nothing but a bump that looks like a pimple... I try to pop it. Nothing, but I feel something solid. I get to a point by stretching my skin that I can see <1mm of metal. I think it's just a little shard causing this problem... well when I finally get this "little piece" of metal out... it's a ~2 inch long piece of wire from a wire wheel!!! When I started pulling I just expected it pluck out... but it just keep going and going... I thought I was going to passout, my chest got real hot ~the first inch.

So ya, next time I have to go under I'm sweeping. I usually only do it once a day, but I don't want to think about the other things that can get lodged in my back.

wow dude, that's a hella long wire. I've had slivers and what not but that has got to be the best yet. Sweeping the floor sounds so much simpler, I think I will do that as well before I get under the 7.

I've gotten those wire wheel wires in my knees before. I sweep quite often now too.

i stepped on a .10 guage guitar string in my room a few years ago. went completely through the arch of my foot. i thought it just snagged the skin, but then i looked down....

for passing through my foot though, it bled very little.

Unhappy

Hey Ive done dumb **** not that im calling anybody dumb except for myself. I decided to polish out some of the parts from my motor with a wirebrush in y room,BIG DUMMY MOVE & later that night going to bed i got those lil wires in my foot and a few in my big toe. I was pissed but who was to blame me but hey no fun thinking you got them all off and end up having to take ya shoes off at work to remove more lil wires. So went the enthusiam to work on polishing stuff on my rugs. I was too anxious then but now i just do it outside or in the basement. & I vacuum my rugs just incase i bring lil wires up in my Timbs cause them dam timberlands catch everything between the groves

And if you drop a part you can see it better too...

I just don't like lieing in dirt, so I clean my garage before I work under my car.

I pulled it out using finger nail clippers and was trying to balance getting ahold of it and not cutting it... as soon as I got it out and had a good look... psh, it drops on my bathroom rug, LOL. So I'm avoid the rug for a while, I've vacuumed and try to just let it fall out, but I think it's still in there.

I was welding about a week ago...and I was not paying attention and the wire feed slipped...burned right through my gloves and into my hand.... talk about hurt like hell... I had like a 1.5" piece of metal sticking out of my hand..... I had to cut the glove off...(on edit ..I didn't...my friend did... I was like...FU%K...)... It was amazing... It just cotterized (spelling) the skin going in... When I pulled it out I just had this hole in my hand... really wierd... no blood...

I know why they TOLD me to wear leather gloves....

Glad to hear ur ok...

^^on a similar note...

I laid down my welding gun not thinking after laying a bead... laid it right on my left thigh. The sound of flesh burning will make sure I don't do that again too.
