Why FB??

Why FB??

i searched, and couldn't find an answer...

why are 1st gens called FB's when the chasis code is SA22? that's been bugging me for a while...

sa22 is only for japanese models, north american models are fb's, your vin should say jm1Fb####....

European ones are SA for the following years: 79-83 and FB for 84-85. Which is kinda weird, since the cars are basicly the same as in the USA apart from some minor differences (no cats etc), and we didn't get the GSL-SE either.

SA = 79 and 80
FB = 81-85

Because chassis code and vin number are different.

The chassis code never changed, they just get called FB by it's VIN instead.

Actually the chassis code was X605.

SA22C was the beginning of the VIN under the old system, where manufacturers determined their own VIN.

Sorry, that was the code name used during development.

Otherwise the chassis code of the FC would be P747.
