Trying to post this question and getting the "proxy error above" - why?
Torque specs for re-installing a oil cooler on an 85 12a?
In the process of putting the oil cooler back on a 85 12a after removing to replace the O rings. What are the torque specs for the 3 bolts/nuts that hold the cooler on?

there's really only 3 bolts/nuts that really need torquing down and those 3 aren't it.

Strange!!!!!
I can post this, but every time I try to post a new post with the above text asking about torque of the oil cooler bolts, I get the proxy error - anyone know why?

Goes to manifold vacuum to reference the FPR. Normally it goes though the orange solenoid on the SE, but it isn't absolutely needed. The orange solenoid just switches from manifold vac reference to atmosheric pressure reference on hot starts to increase fuel pressure for about 1 minute after starting to help reduce the chance of vapor lock.

MACH7: Just as rxtasy3 said, there aren't torque specs for those bolts (I checked the FSM). I have had problems with the proxy errors as well.

can i run it straight to a vac nipple on the dynamic chamber?

Yeah, should be fine. You are putting an FC engine in right (S4?) ? You can run it direct or just keep the green and orange solenoid for the vac advance control and the FPR. My air temp sensor is broken, so my orange solenoid doesn't do anything. I haven't had any problems, but I haven't really had much experience with it this way in combination with hot weather. The FC has the same sort of setup, so depending on if you are going to use the FC or -SE ECU you can keep the FPR solenoid if you want.

i'm using the SE ecu and my goal is to have the setup as uncluttered as possible, which means capping off everything i can. i actually plan to eliminate the BAC and just run a slightly higher idle as this is primarily an autocross car.

Well, just hook it directly to manifold vac then. You could do the same with vac advance or do like many do and leave the vac advance disconnected and just use mechanical advance. You can eliminate the BAC, and run a higher idle as you said. You can also do the TB mod to clean up things a bit more and get a little more top end. Check out some of the pics that JIMMY54 and Max7 have on here (if the search is working). I believe both have simplified -SE setups (I know JIMMY54 does). Should give you some ideas. Are you using the FC manifolds?

I think that we have officially hijacked this thread.

yeah i'm using the FC manifolds. here's a picture of wheni just set the UIM on top for ***** and giggles:

i was told there was a vaccum line to worry about between the dynamic chamber and the LIM. beyond that, i'm not sure what to look for. any advice there?

In the back of the FSM, where it lists specs, and does give torque specs, there is a small notation that lists bolt and nut sizes and the torque for them, if they are not specifically listed elsewhere.

Whew, I hate run on sentences. I hope it makes sense, I haven't had my coffe yet.

I'll have to check the FC setup further and get back to you. Off hand, the -SE vac lines are

- FPR -->(run direct)
- vac advance --> (run direct or eliminate)
- BAC --> (eliminate)
- Purge valve/charcoal canister--> (keep)
- brake booster --> (keep)
- air bleed (this is what they are talking about on the LIM) --> (keep)
- OMP oil injectors --> (keep or premix)
- outer sencondary throttle plates --> (eliminated with TB mod)
- relief and switching solenoid for ACV --> (eliminated with headers/no cats)
- vacuum sensor --> (keep?)
- cruise -->(eliminate)

Those are what I can think off off hand. Should give you a starting point. Most of this stuff is the same on the S4 with a few differences. I will check out the S4 setup and let you know what else you may be able to simplify/remove.
