IRS would rule, but $4500 is about $4000 too much.

I'm not about to hack up my steering column, nor am I about to take apart a steering box thats in good shape (no prob since your making the adaptor for us) Anyway, PS steering columns aren't the most common things around, so finding one might get expensive, that added to $200 + shipping (I assume its extra) for your kit, + the rack itself, new tie rod ends etc etc, will add up to at least $400, maybe more.
I wouldn't worry too much about cutting the non-ps column. There are enough junker 12a RX-7's that if you wanted to put it back to stock you would have no trouble getting one. just my 2 cents.

Well guys it is just about finished!!! Whats taking so long is trying to come up with most efficient possile way to manufactur the kit. Stuff like making a dedicated jig with all the proper angles and holes so all I have to do is take the raw laser cut bracket and lay it on the jig and start the hydraulic press to bend the proper angles, I was surprised that I needed to heat the area to be bent to get a clean line (just shows how strong 1/4 plate steel is) and now that it is bent with heat it is even stronger. I will be taking pics within 24hrs of the kit on the car and off the car so you can see what it is involved.
Hell, even Im getting excited about this and I dont even have a running car to put it on!
Turns out Chris from CP Racing in Orangeville is going to be the one to test it out on his 1st gen. He says he travels nearly 300km/day so it wont take long to get all kinds of feedback.
Once again I like to hear from you guys and whats going on in your minds as well. Also think of this as the absolute best PERMANANT mod that can be done on your car. Im getting sick of coming through the traps at well over a 100mph with white knuckles while steering somthing that feels more like barn wagon than a sports car!

that is a good point, but it doesn't matter now anyway, I talked to the scrap guy thats taking my parts car about what it needs to have, and he said it just needs 4 wheels, so i'll be able to keep the steering off that one. So no worries for me now.
