well i dont know anyone that has done that complete swap but i do know some that have done the coil igniter swap and the s4 intake swap on there gsl-se engines. if i had the chance to do my engine swap over again thats the swap i would do (the s4 swap) if not a turbo two.

I put an s5 in my 83 gsl. It was a very simple task and was well worth it!. I decided to go carby for now using a Jay-Tech intake and a Holley 600cfm e/electric choke.

Ive done both S4 and S5 in my 84......cant really consider it an S4-S5 swap if you go carb or standalone.......ditching the stock EFI makes a later model engine swap no more difficult than any other rotary engine swap.

What do you need to know?......EVERTHING has been covered a thousand time over regardling FC engine swaps. And remember,99% of the work is the same no matter if you are doing an N/A or TII swap.

Carbed s5 is simple enough as already mentioned. Going the EFI route can be done but in my opinion its not worth the hassle.....for me at least!

You are not ready to dive into doing a S4, or S5 swap and using the injection system.

As others have stated, do research, print out the material that is available. When you are finally ready to do the swap and are looking for someone in your area to help.
Start a thread in your region requesting help.

In the meantime I recommend getting to know the basics about your 7 to start with. Then maybe doing some performance upgrading on your 12a to see how you like it.
Take small steps and digest the information as you go. Too much is overwhelming and may discourage you.

mines fuel injected

I have an S4 Fuel injected FB. Has the 5,6 ports opened up, exhaust, intake, high flow fuel pump, race clutch, and it is very quick compared to stock. Definitely worth the money invested.

If wiring the motor up is not going to be a problem, then the rest will be a piece of cake. Seriously do some hard-core searching. Your questions have all been asked before and the answer await you. Custom drive shaft ???? ** Please read up**

A little help

I had someone do the work for me, but I do know that the easiest way is to keep your stock tranny and differential. The S4 will bolt right up to the 12a tranny. You just need to changed the clutch I believe to a second gen n/a clutch. Change the oil pan to one from a GSL-SE, change the front cover from either a GSL-SE or I believe the 12a front cover works too. Different exhaust header of course. As long as your friend knows the wiring on these cars, you should be fine. There are some excellent posts in the archieves for wiring a second gen engine in, just like the other guys said, it is probably best to check those out and get really familiar with them. You will need the S4 main relay, and a resistor pack to go inline with the fuel injectors due to the impedence level of the S4 injectors and of course what the ecu wants.

That is the jist of it.... I dont think I missed anything. But definitely research into this further before jumping in. My buddy just finished his T2 FB, and now I am looking into going turbo already. If there is a chance you might want more, it might be worth the effort to go turbo from the start.

i think what may be a bit confusing is that you're not specifying that you want an N/A swap or a T2 swap. from your "driveshaft" comment and the links you provided, it seems you're going for a T2 swap. meanwhile, your thread simply states "S4", which by itself is implying N/A.

i cringe whenever i see people asking basic questions, then saying something like "it will be no problem" or "i've got it covered" - like you said with your buddy and the wiring. i, too, will stand with rx7doctor and say i think you need to give it some time and get used to the car and soak up some more knowledge.

there are several threads on T2 swap and REW swaps that will show you that getting the engine into the car and getting it to run correctly are tasks that are miles apart.
