Who has installed Blaster 2 coils?

I'm looking to upgrade my factory coils, but I don't want to go dilfis. If you have upgraded your coils, what type have you used and any comments. I think you have to use a risistor with the blaster 2's, please tell me if i'm wrong.

Resistor is only used with point type systems.

Found those results by keying in Msd blaster coil.

Coils

If you can afford thse go with the MSD High-Vibration Coils.
The have Gel in them instead of Oil so you won't have to worry about them leaking Oil when you install them Horizontal, common problem with Regular Coils.
Threw Summit Racing Part # MSD-8222 Blaster HVC $44.88.
45,000 Volts @ 140 milliamps.
I use these with MSD Wires in my 84 and what a difference they made @ the Top and Bottom.

If you sceptics don't beleive me on mounting coils in wrong positions (Call MSD).
I was going to buy the Blaster 3 coils and I called MSD 1st and they told me the whole Reasoning.
The High Vibration Coils are only $6.00 more than the 3's

Pertronix

You can only use there Flame-Thrower IGN Epoxy Filled Coils @45,000 Volts for the Sideway Mounting on our cars.
I guess you save $2.00 for these.
I just Like how the MSD performed with either the MSD or NGK wires.
However I have heard good things about Pertronix. My neibor has a 1970 Challanger and he uses some of there Electronics ie Distributer, Ignition Box and some other goodies. He is running over 670 Ponnies.
I wish I had his care, and mine of course.

ive been running blaster 2 or 3. cant remember which on the trailing of my DD. im running a stock 2nd gen coil for the leading. i was initially running two msd coils. i threw in the 2nd gen coil one day and it made an improvement over the msd coil so i left it.

its easy as installing the msd to install the 2nd gen coil and its cheaper. i suggest going that route. another way you could go, which is the way ill go with my SA, is using the MSD DIS coil. its about the same price as all of their other coils and its set up for direct fire.

Sean, long time no talk. Which blasters do you have? The ones mentioned above run $48each from Summit. When you coming up? I just picked up a torque brace, ss oil lines and ss clutch line. You could come help me install and get that clutch pedal up to par!

Your clutch pedal itself needs to be modified/fixed, the hole that the pin goes through is elongated like all of mine were, we'll need to address that...
Those are the coils I have, they were around that price, they are good. We'll have to set up a mini meet or something sometime soon, been so busy with the new job though...

Pertronix Coils

Just for the hell of it I went over to my Neighbors House last nite with the 70 Dodge Challenger and he has changed over from the Pertronix to the MSD Blaster HVC Gel Filled Coils
The Pertronix Coils started to leak after only 37hrs of track time.
He showed them to me and there is like a Goo Substance around the top of them.
He told me that the Company would not help him since they where mounted sideways. ie He got screwed.

He has 75 track hours on the MSD's and has no problems and has a incredable increase off the line since he made the change.
Just an F.Y.I.
I have never had any problems with mine after 11,000 miles on my set-up.

i went from ACCEL coils to MSD Blaster 3s and that was a world of a difference. I got mine at Pinks! All out racing when visiting Maple Grove last week. Some of the contenders and shops running had parts booths. $35ea no tax.
