Do any of you have problems with steering, etc. with those size wheels/offset ratios? Just curious to see what my options are for comfortably fitting, around $500 budget, yet sharp looking rims.

I am in the process of making them right now.
heres how I am doing it. I put the lights in hot water to seperate them. I removed the colored sections. using some special adheasive that easily comes off, I put down some circles on the insides of the lights and sprayed glossy black paint. When I the piant dried. I removed the paper circles i layed in dark tinting film.

The reverse light is very lightly tinted and is still square but know has blue bulbs.
the brake/tail lights are round circles with red bulbs
and the turn signal are oval around the bend and have amber bulbs but I am thinking of making them blue also.

this is off subject but, i have done a templete for 1st
gen tail lights, so it's the same, but it's 2 round circles
for the red lens,1 circle for turn lens, 1 small for back up
so i guess it will look like maybe a 3rd gen's 1996 i think.
the outside piece thats clear, stays clear too, even
thought about colouring the tail lights the same colour
as the car,,in the picture,,,this is just an idea,,i'm not going with it though,,just an idea

I am still looking for peoples offsets.
28 sounds good.
offset is measured from the hub to the centerline of the wheel, right.
Im thinking I need somethink between 25 and 30mm.

I want the side of the tire to be fairly close to the edge of the wheel well

12A wheel offset

It appears to me that the offset to give the best clearance from both the strut and the fender lip would be 12mm.

Is the custom drilling fee total, or per wheel?

I just ordered some Konig Reason wheels. I ended up with a set of 16x7 with a 38 mm offset. I used the 205/45 R16 over the 205/50 R16 tires based on comments from this board. Back in the late 1990's Sport Compact Car Mag. did a 1st gen build up. They removed the springs and mounted a set of 16x7 with a 40 mm offset and had no contact with any parts of the car at any stearing angle and any config of suspension travel. I did'nt figure 2mm was much different. The Sport Compact car did have a rolled inner-fender lip on the front.

15X7 Centerlines with 205/50-15 Toyos on GSL brakes/suspension.It fit just fine and didnt rub at all with 12MM of positive offset(deepdish).......

After swapping to GSL-SE brakes,I had to roll the fender lips since it pushed the wheels out a bit more.It still worked well, but rubbed ocassionally. The SE's brakes/hubs are more like the FC's and modern FWD cars,it requires much less deepdish and more negative offset to clear the fenders.

Well, the Kosei K1's tire rack used to sell were 15x7 and were -17mm offset I believe. A lot a people say they fit without a problem. Your wheels should be fine in that offset as well. This is for a non-SE though.
