Where's best/cheapest place to get elect fan?

Thinking about doing the electric fan thing...I've been reading on it for hours(about elect fans, double pulleys, yazoo/yahoo belt, ect.) Electric fan just seems better all the way around to me.
Where to get good price?
Thanks

Faster than a speeding bullet, Doc you're gonna have me in tears of joy over here, stop it.
Seriously though I won't absolutely need it until I'm rolling again(3-4 weeks) but I'll send you some $$ and take it off your hands asap if you get one...we have crap for junk yards around here.

The fans from the mid 80's MR2 are a very easy install. Mounting them involves drilling two holes in the shroud on the new fans, and takes about ten minutes to complete. They work so good, that I've only been using one of them (they come as a two pack) for the last two years with no issues, even while racing on hot days. A search will reveal all of the install details and pictures... Total cost for me was under 40 bucks, including the adjustable fan controller to run them.

Mustang fans work good too. Minor modification but its easy as long as you know your push and pull!

i got a fan from a 3.8 v6 Taurus. make sure it has 3 wires for the hi and low speed of the fan. use the low settings of the fan cuz it will drain a lot of power. the reason why i saw this particular fan is because it fits PERFECTLY on my s3 radiator.

I used a fan from a 91 Ford Escort that I got for FREE! Fits the rad perfect and even has a cut out area to clear the lower rad hose.

I'm not much of a "fan" of electric fans. Will it save HP, no, or maybe 1/10 of 1 HP. Will it cool better, no. The only thing you really get from them, is the ability to run the fan after the engine shuts off to cut down on heat soak. And most of the people that put the electric fans on don't even install a timer that does this!

^^ very true. i did feel a difference on the revving tho.

i did install the thermal switch but it doesnt seem to work right. i followed the direction of the wiring kit but it still didnt seem to turn on. i bought the hayden fan control kit. suppose to turn the fan on at 185 and off at 170. didnt switch on tho... tried 2 switches too... soo i resulted to having to run with a manual switch.

The thread was asking where can I get an electric fan. Why do you insist on coming in and posting off topic?

Electric fans free up usable HP. They are a efficent means of cooling and extend the life of water pump bearings. Why do you think that they are stock on most engines today?

Plus when you remove the airpump an elect fan prevents you from trying to find a way of keeping the alt/fan belt from squealing(due to low contact of belt to waterpump pulley)...whether it's buying/finding a double alt pulley or going w/the yahoo belt from Pineapple racing... I'm going electric cause electricity RULES!...and so does HP and quicker revs.
Thanks again Doc

It's not off topic because most people who want electric fans expect them to make their car faster or cooler and they will be disappointed. If there is some reason that a normal fan setup isn't working then an electric fan is a good substitute.

As for why they are stock on most engines I suspect this is because most engines today are transverse mounted and that doesn't work very well with a fan clutch. Even on an AWD/RWD car, the flexibility in placement can make them helpful with today's cramped engine bays. I also suspect that they are cheaper to manufacture since today's cars have all the necessary sensors anyway.

Fluffysheap: You really can tell the difference in power after installing an efan, but only in 1st/2nd gear (which is still important for Autocross). It just feels like there is a little more snap to it.

Also, in my case, it was a weight reduction (minor, but still true) and cleared up a lot of room at the front of the engine compartment. To top it all off, you also have adjustability that was not there before.

Here's a decent shot of my setup, back when I was using both of the two-fan setup from an MR2 (install not complete). Now I only use one of the fans and still have excellent cooling with the 2nd gen radiator.

do you think pulling the aircon radiator would increase temp?

Couldn't hurt any. Besides, if it doesn't work (the AC, that is), then its just dead weight... On the other hand, maybe it could add some protection from gravel kicked up by trucks on the highway?
