Where to put radardetector?

I want to install a radardetector in my car.

1981 SA(SA body with FB bumpers).

It's a Quintezz Z1 with a horn(for better readings).
Dimensions:20x10x6cm. Guess around 13x7x4inches

I thought about putting it behind the grill. The thing is the grill causes bad readings.

What disadvantages does removing the grill have?

The grill helps route the air into the radiator.

That's one Big *** radar detector! Is it supposed to mount outside the car? (never heard of the brand - is it solid state or is it using tubes?)

Oh yea - sorry, I have no idea where to mount something that big - just bored at work

The detector has a horn for better readings. I'm going to put it all in a waterproof box. For the best readings I'm going to build it inside the car.

I can put it behind my windshield, but it takes up room and I have to install it and take it off everytime or else it will be stolen.

I really want to build it in front of my car somewhere and behind the grill looks like the best way.

Detectors are not illegal here, but maybe it will be in the future. Politics are working on it(for over 7 years now).

This brand is Dutch only I believe so no english info.
