Rebuild in WI?! Will anyone here do it??
I would love to someday get my 12A rebuilt, at least simply a stage 1 rebuild. However, no mechanic that I talked to will touch it, and frankly I just don't have the time or confidence to mess with it myself. Is there anyone in Wisconsin with a little reference backing so I do not have to ship it far? Thanks-

I dont know because ive never actually done it but it seems pretty simple to rebuild a 12a. I just got done tearing one down and putting it back together for kicks. I just wanted to see the inside but then i put it backk together so i could use it as a core. Maybe im mistaken and maybe its a real pain to put all of those seals and gaskets back in. I just slapped it together without em . I know it wont run but its still good for a core an a rebuilt one so wtf. If i had the money for a rebuild kit i would try to rebuild it myself but im strapped right now so its not happening. But i put it all back together from a compplete block in less than an hour and it was completly in parts. This is the first time i ever took one apart too. The only other reason besides money is that i want a nice porting job and that i wont do myself ill leave that to the pros. but yeah if you got a little experience i dont see why you dont just do it yourself its cant bee all that hard. its definatly not harder that a regular engine rebuild since a small four cylnder has over 40 moving parts and the rotary has esentilally 3 the two rotors and the eccentric shaft. If some one that has rebuilt a rotary and believes otherwise please tell us.

Its not difficult to open a Rotary, not at all.The important part is : Accuracy...you really have to pay attention when you take it apart.Put all the seals in well label bag, with front and rear rotor seperate. It also makes it easier to check that everything is still there.
It takes time to torque all the dowel bolts. If your able to work accurate and fast,it will take less than 3 hours to close it up,and to have done everything right.
I find it a pleasure to work on them, especially when your finished. The proof is as always ,in the pudding
