where can I get rear calipers without paying a kings ransom?

I need a new set of rear calipers cause the ones on the 84 gsl rear I have in my car are garbage. Mazdatrix wants way too much for them, and the cheapest I found was $105 at my local padik auto parts. But they suck and their stuff is garbage. Where have you guys purchased them and how did you like them? TIA

Are yours still in good enough shape to just be rebuilt? I got the rebuild kit from mazda for $20, and it took me 15mins per caliper to rebuild them.

they could probably be rebuilt, what exactly is involved? do you just pop the piston out, clean it all up and then put new gaskets in it and your done? I might have to look into that...

Yes

Leave one caliper installed, pull the other one up but do not remove the fluid line, have someone press the brakes until the piston is out almost all the way. pull the line and remove the caliper.

Take it to your work bench, pull out the piston, remvoe the split ring in the rubber boot and pull the boot out Then remove the sqare rubber that is in the caliper. Use scotch brite to clean the piston, and the area above and below where the square rubber was, The rubber is where they stick and leak.

reinstall by putting in the square rubber. put the piston in, put the seal around it and install the split ring.

Put it back on the car, you dont have to bleed it now but get enough fluid in it that you can take apart and press out the other side.

Advance auto keeps the front kits for like $8 each, My local store has to order them in but it is only a one day wait.

I thought you said Front, Sorry.

The rear have one extra, The E-brake has a o-ring in the bottom, you have to take the boot off, press the pistion up while pulling the shaft out, dont loose the spring washers and keep everthing in order, IT IS A PAIN IN THE ***, I would not mess with this part if they are not leaking out the bottom, Mine was but the o-ring in the kit was the wrong size and it leaked after the rebuild.
