whats your oil pressure? where dose your water temp run at?
whats your oil pressure? where dose your water temp run at?
mine is about (full operating temp) 30 pounds at idle and 60 pounds at 3000 rpm's .. is that good?? all my others run about them same!! also on a diffrent kinda note... all of my rotarys run cooler than any piston engines that ive ever owned! it runs about 1/8 to 1/4 of the way... i like that! i can let it idle in the summertime w/ac on and it will never run hot..temp stays about the same!! i just wanted to share that!!! (now......just my luck..it will start overheating now sence i bragged on them) lol

Just FYI the stock water temp doesnt read 100% accurate when i installed my autometer one vs the oem one at times the oem would stay in place and the auto meter would have movment but thats just FYI and my idle PSI is 40 and it goes up to about 60-70psi driving

.Water temp no more than 1/3 ever (havent had it out in the hot summer yet, just got it out on the road).
Oil pressures exactly as stated above

Related question:
What would cause low oil pressure. Mine is about 20psi at idle and 55-60psi at 4000rpm (my stock gauge and Autometer both idicate low pressure). The engine pulls well and does not burn or leak excessive oil. Does the oil pump wear (and if so, can it be replaced)?

I put Redline water wetter in the radiator, with the anti-freeze/distilled water mix at about 30/70, the minimum mixture to prevent freezing at -20F or so. The temperature never goes above 3/8 of the gage (when the outside temps were in the 90's), mostly it stays right on 1/4 of the gage.
Oil pressure is 20-30 psi idle and 60 -70 psi reved. I noticed a decrease in idle oil pressure when I switched to a K&N oil filter. I think that filter has a large pressure drop. I'm going to go for the stock Mazda filter next oil change.

Heavier oil will bring up your pressure. I used to run 20w50 and when I switched to 10W30, my pressure dropped a little. I'm about 1/4 on the temp guage this time of the year - it lifts a little in the heat of the summer

Get a new Mazda thermostat and gaskets, plus a bit of RTV silicon doesn't hurt either, but only on one side of the gasket OK, or else its a lot harder the next time.
Before you do anything though you need to drain the radiator (be environmentally responsible here!) Get some radiator flush like the Prestone or Napa stuff, and follow the directions. (make sure its OK for use with aluminum). After flushing, change the thermostat out, and refill the radiator with a good quality antifreeze approved for aluminum, mixed with Redline Water Wetter and distilled water at the mixture that is just good enough to ensure that it doesn't freeze in the cold plus some margin for safety. (I mixed mine to -20F protection, about 2/3 distilled water.)
You'll find it works much better.
PS, don't forget to have the heater on full when flushing.
