What's wrong with my car?

84 GS with a 12a, weber 45, all the stuff in my sig. I finally got my carb to run well enough for a test drive. All 3 blocks of it. 1st gear and all is fine, 2nd starts ok, then sputters and tries to die, 3rd is just bog and no power. When I put the clutch in, all seems fine, but under load, (except 1st) it's crap. Ideas?

First thing to come to mind is floats are too low.

Make sure your floats are high enough, then make sure your fuel pressure is up to spec. Make sure the Fuel pressure gauge is as close to the carb as possible and no more than a foot away from the regulator.

right now I'vw got the stock pump wired back in. FPR was trash, ebay peice of ****. Had "holley" red style pump, but was too much without fpr. You think thats the prob? Getting a new one, but it's gonna be a week or so. Broke, spent all my money on parts for my wifes 85GS project. Guess I'm toast til then huh? Crap.

If I recall, I know almost nothing about Webers though, the factory fuel pump is way too small for an aftermarket carburetor.

The factory pump JUST puts out enough flow and pressure for the nicki to run correctly.

On the other side of this, the Holley is sending too much fuel to the carb without it being regulated down.

i've been running the stock fuel pump on my car and i run a 48, (but it is just now going bad)
but it will work.
Would definetly recommend a rotary vane pump and regulated around 4lb's like everyone else.
Good luck.
