The plate comes off if you remove the big bolt then swap it out for the one you need / orginally had to match your driveshaft.

Might need a impact gun, although I'm betting w/the rear already in the car just lock it up by applying the emergency brake and it should come off with a nice sized wratchet.

Won't solve the other problem you're going have. The SE had larger axles, your's has smaller. You're going to have to take both diffs to a shop and have them swap the SE ring and pinion to the 79 diff, along with the lsd parts and early driveshaft flange.

Too bad you didn't just get the entire rear end. Would have been a much easier swap that way. www.re-speed.com might have axles compatible with your new setup, but they are high performance (Moser) so they probably aren't cheap.

Good luck....

But Trochoid he said he has it all assembled already....???

I *THINK* he has the entire rearend & housing in the 79 from a later style GSL unit already.

If he had the unit in an early small axle housing, then all you may need is the later driveshaft. If he had it in a a large axle housing then you will need to use your core and have it rebuilt. I'd pull the unit and an axle and test fit the 2 out side of the housing to see how they mate up. The large and small axles have a different spline count.
