Whats a rebuilt 13b street port worth?
I am thinking about selling the rebuilt 13b street port out of my 84 in favor of a new boosted motor, but I'm not sure if it's worth selling. The motor has less then 30k on the rebuilt, has an aggressive street port, but the rebuild used steel apex seals. I would be selling the motor with intake, exhaust, and carb. It's a weber carb with RB headers, according to pineapple racing it should be good for 180hp at the wheels, and last dyno was getting close, but needed bigger chokes for the carb for the highend.
Any thoughts? If it's only going to fetch a small amount I'll keep it, and save for a turbo motor in addition to it.

I didn't choose the rebuild, it was done before I bought it.
Turbo charging this engine was my first thought, but I'm having a hard time finding a cost effective method for getting the turbo system put together. If you have suggestions I'm wide open. I don't want to poor 5k into this car, might as well take the 5k, 2k for the car, and be half way to a FD.

it's going to come down to knowing what you want. period. power and boost level? carb or fuel injection? you mentioned the FD and if that's what you want then you should probably find a way to get one because if your "back-up" plan is to get an FB to run like one, then you're going to have to spend money (and probably a decent sum of it) - no way around that!

love the braaaap
Talk to Robert at Rotaryshack about turbo prepping your Weber. Its been successfully done many of times and even with a stock S5 turbo you can see probably 250 hp at the rear wheels which is plenty to make the car hit the mid 13s with good tires. That engine is capable of a lot.
Is it a 6 or 4 port 13B?

You make it sound like steel apex seals are bad. Unless you wish to pop for the ceramic ones, the steel seals are fine. If you want to build a turbo engine, use the one you have. I don't see any point in building a new engine and risking it if this is your 1st time out with a turbo rotary.
With 180whp, you have a very good start as it is.

Terrified.
I know I for one would kill for 180 rear wheel horsepower. I would be willing to give you a few hundred for it. .
Honestly though, I think you should turbo it. If you do decide to sell it then I would love to know how much you decide to sell it for. I would love to have a 13B dropping into my FB.
