No contest what so ever. I have a holly and you can hear it above the idle of my car.

Yea, the Holley is loud. I haved use a few over the years and I have not yet built a motor yet that used any type of muffler that you can't still here Holley buzzing away. The buzzing get old really quick, Back when I had a built 351 in my mustang, I used to kill the pump at red lights just so I wouldn't have to listen it. Sounded like a different car with it off.

Well, I have used both. I used a carter fuel pump and its definitely louder IMO.

I changed to a Holley RED pump later(because I was able to get it cheap and it flows slightly better then carter) and was amased how much quieter it was. I mounted both pumps on the same way with rubber shielding them from the chassis, so the difference was pump itself. As one who has used both at one point, holley clearly is quieter if my ears don't decieve me, but not mute if thats what your looking for.

Really? In my experience it was exactly the opposite.

Revhead, Maybe your right. However, I'm sure that the electric motor in all these pumps be it a holley or carter, etc all are their quiestest when new and some get louder over time.

Also, mounting them and the mounting brackets and the rubber piece between them will greatly effect how loud the pump will be through the chassis.

For example, I could hear the carter pump making "GRRRRRRRR" sound standing outside of the car when the engine was running, where as I couldn't hear the holley pump unless I was in my car, and it was at idle with radio off.

You're probably right. It depends mostly on where and how it's mounted.

The Holly is a WHOLE LOT LOUDER. People would get in my car and ask me what was wrong with it. The Carter has a nice little thump.

think I got a holley pump, the previous owner installed a smaller pump for cruising because the big one was too loud! Sounds like a constant groan from the rear end

You might be able to make it quieter with insulation or something. But i have used a holley blue 110 gph in my rx3 and you could really hear that thing, even in the trunk it would vibrate through the whole light body whwn the car wasnt running. but then once started the pp with now exhaust i guess was louder...

It might be my mounting... but i have an MSD one and that thing is loud as hell. People are always asking me, "what the hell is that constant buzzing?". I don't really mind much though.
Of course you aren't looking for an in line one judging by ur GSL.

The Holley Blue Pump is Louder than My RB Full Exhaust System. In fact I think that it's louder than my neighbors Lawnmower.
Last summer I could swear that when he was cutting his grass I could still hear the Fuel Pump over it.
I changed mine this Fall
