whats color is "correct"
Light and color can do wierd things. In my garage light the 79 mirror does appear darker when placed next to the trim, but much greyer when next to the 80 mirror. If I took the picture in good sunlight the results would be different I'm sure. They are not an exact match but the mirror is also molded colored plastic, not paint. As an example, same color mirror, same color trim, same basic light, different color car and different result.....Also a door handle which is what started all this.
Finially, my Toronado's. I got the Turbo style which were different. They came in two sizes, these smaller ones were called baby toronado's. Period speed gear.

thanks for the pictures thought my vision was failing me
ah the elusive handle!! ... would you say it's closer in shade to the mirror or the trim?
The door handles match the rest of the vehicle trim. The molded mirrors are the odd ducks. Intrestingly, no one really ever asks about the rear hatch latches. I've known those to always be the blacker color like the garnish on the rear quarter windows, even on 79's. I suppose it better matched the darker tinted glass around the back.
update ... I asked the wife who has a pretty damn good eye, she matched Ford Arizona Beige damn it looks right. Light gray base and then the Beige
The kicker is my DD is a F350 Lariet and the bottom color is ... you guessed it Arizona Beige .. talk about being underneath your nose
