what would you pay?

well, I was thinking of buying another 7, and my friend pointed me toward a 84 GSL (5sp) a few towns over. Well, today, I looked at it and took some pics. Here's the details:

Body:
suprisingly good for being the northeast, couldn't any rust. Knocked on the rocker panels, the quarter panels, and wheel wells and couldn't find anything. The paint is in good condition too, with a few chips and deep scratches here and there. However, it looks like the clearcoat is peeling off the sunroof. It has a lot of stickers on the glass and body though The window/ door trim could be touched up too, but thats not that hard to fix.

Engine:
I have no idea, he claims it runs good, but I didn't get a chance to start it or open up the hood, so that's a bit of an unknown. I did take an intresting pic though...

Interior:
eh, it's ok. It's missing the horn button and has some seat covers on. The rear deck is a little faded but the door panels look pretty good. Console is a little rough.

Other:
It's missing the door lock and the gas door doesn't seem to close. It has some REAL funky looking tips on what appears to be the stock muffler.

Mileage- 84K
One owner, all paperwork

On the for sale sign, it said $5500!! But that was crossed out and $2600 or BO was written. Still, I think that was way too high. Edmunds.com says it should be closer to $1250 with that kind of milage and in that condition.

Here's some pics:

only pic I could get of the engine- from underneath the car!! Looks a little sketchy to me. Why does it appear to be all covered in oil?

so

What do you think???

thanks

It's covered with oil because the o-rings under the beehive oil cooler are leaking, would be my bet.

$5,500 for an FB is outrageous. I'd offer $1,200 work my way up. I most certainly wouldn't pay more than $2,000 to $2,500 though. That's just me, but then again I made the mistake of buying one for $2,100 that devoloped a major oil leak and caused me more pains than it was ever worth.
