What to try now?? No start unless primed. and no idle

I just removed the rats nest on my 85 gsl and was looking forward to driving the car some. Well, now it won't start unless I prime the carb and then it runs great. It also won't idle at all. The carb is a stripped down Nikki and float levels look great. What in the world did I miss? All vac ports are plugs or used, but wouldn't it have to be a vac leak? Just not getting fuel to start up....HELP! I am way bummed on this beautiful day. When it goes dead I can hear a sucking sound coming from carb...is that something odd? Guess it's hard being a newbie huh?

Assuming the car ran correctly before the rats nest removal, it would seem very likely you forgot to cap something and have at least one, maybe more vaccuum leaks. Did you hook back up the vaccuum line to the distributor and provide a vent line for the block?

I did hook back up the distributor. The block? Please explain that one. I capped off a line that maybe goes to block on passenger side near cat lines. It just seems like it isn't getting fuel on the low end. Above 1500 it runs like a kitten. Gotta be something simple...I HOPE LOL. Please help me with the block vent. THANK YOU!!!

If you removed and installed a block off plate for the #2 anti-afterburn valve, did you remember to block the large port on the rear of the intake manifold?

See if you still have trailing spark. The fuel pump won't run without it. Otherwise, the float needles might be sticking?
