Isn't that a coolant hose to your intake manifold?

duh read your first post. You already know that.

ok I've been having trouble posting the pics of the coolant hoses. the one pictured above is an air hose of some sort. it's comes from the lower intake area. I don't know where it should go tho. it's been like this since I bought the car.

First off - be nice to Suparslinc - he's just trying to help you out on short notice.

To answer your question, the hose that you've identified is your ACV outlet hose that goes from the ACV (on the right side of the lower intake manifold) to the #3 Main Catalytic Converter. If you look closely where this pipe goes, it is joined with a smaller airpipe that also has a 1-way valve and powers your '6'-ports. I noticed that you have an SE from looking at the intake system (you didn't point that out before).

So, yes - that's an airpipe used by the Air Pump to get ACV routed air to the cats to burn off emissions. When the Main Cat air isn't 'powered', that air is diverted to the exhaust ports through the ACV and blends fresh air and exhaust gases to 1) quiet the airpulse, and 2) allow for better cooling of the exhaust manifold and reduced emissions.

There are 2 coolant hoses in that same (general) area, one comes from the back of the water pump housing to the Thermowax Pellet, and then from the Thermowax Pellet goes to the back of the engine block, end housing - this controls your 'cold-start' assist for the vacuum Secondary Throttle (choke) butterflies and diaphragm valve.

Does that help? (Your next question is gonna be: "Can I remove it all?" - I just know it!!)

alright thats perfect. the pipe going to my cats has long since fallen off. so I've done the airpump actuated 6-port mod. so is it best that I just plug the hose? or can I just leave it as is?

It's going to make a lot of noise during cruise conditions, but other than that, the airpump is just venting to the atmosphere.

If you try to plug it, it's going to cause problems with the pump - pumps don't like to be 'stalled', and will quickly ruin the pump - THAT will result in stuff that you'll have to block off to keep your engine running right, so my suggestion is to leave it in place and route the hose to something (preferably your Cats, lest they become clogged!)

Best advice I have ever heard: Nobody likes a smartass. Save that kind of reply for the lounge.

See if I ever try to help you out again
