MA What is this senser in the oil pan (not the level sensor)

Hello,

I have an 82 GSL manual trans.

I discovered a leak in this small senser screwed into the oil pan. It is next to the oil level senser.
It has a single wire going to it.

I have looked at the parts diagrams and haynes manual but can not seem to identify this.
The diagrams in the parts fishe just show the oil level senser in this location.

Any ideas ??

can you describe or take a pic of it? first guess is oil pressure, but that shouldn't be in the pan. Someone may have added an oil temp sensor, does it lead into the stock wiring?

Think I found it under the "starting assist system" section.
Called a Thermo Unit Part# 8712-13-531

What are the chances Mazda will have this part. Probably not too good. If not then maybe I can plug this with a bolt and remove the sub zero system.

Plug it with a bolt and crush washer unless you're in alaska or desperatly needing a tuneup.

Looking in the manual it's not in the lubrication system - even though they have a shot of the oil pan. But it is in the fuel & emissions sections, and is shown as the sub-zero start assist.

Thanks everyone
Plugging it seems the way to go now that I know what it is. I never drive it in the cold weather anway.
