what rear end

I have an 85 gs 12 A and i am looking to upgrade to disk and lsd. what is the best and easiest rear end to swap in?I am hitting the junkyard tomorrow. what year of rx should i look for?

depends on what you want...gsl-se is great if you get everything if you wanna put rims on your 7 but a gsl is a disk posi and is the size of stock non se rims

Look for a 84 or 85 GSL. This will give you the LSD, Disc brakes, and let you keep your current wheels (no change in bolt pattern like an SE would give you).

You will want an 84 to 85 GSL Rear end for easiest swap. If you get one out of a 81-83 GSL then you will need the driveshaft as well. If you get one out of a SE, you will have to grab the rear rims also, because you will go from 4x110 to 4x114.3.

It is also recommended that you install the disk master cylinder also.

And the brake proportioning valve located next to the master cylinder under the hood.
Disc brakes need more fluid pressure to work than drum brakes,so youll need that valve so the rears will come on strong.Unfortuneately,this same trait means they make terrible parking/E-brakes compared to drums.
