What parts needed to put gsl-se rear into a 1980???
Ok. I ordered the stainless steel brake line kit for "79-80 rx7 w/ 81-85 rear disc". I will soon be getting the entire rear from a gsl-se. This includes rotors, calipers, and emergency brake cable.
My question is: Do I need any other parts to make this conversion? I know that the gsl-se bolt pattern is different, so that problem doesn't need to be addressed. But is there anything else I need to get? Thanks.

well since you know the bolt pattern is different, you probably know already that you have to redrill the rotors or change the axles and rear diff as well

oh sorry, i only saw the rotor and caliper part , if you have the brake line, u should be fine. I'm almost certain that the driveshaft will bolt on there as well, anybody wants to second that??

I put an 84 (gsl-se with lsd) axel on my 81 car..
It fits rellay well! No need to modify anything really...
Just bolt on..
That was the complete axel... all of it.

I'm putting '84 SE suspension in an '85 S. The axle is a straight swap but you also need the e-brake cables and the master cylinder/proportioning valve from a rear disc car.
See www.mazspeed.com/axel.htm (it's not a typo) for axle differences between years.
I do have definitive information on the differences between the front dampers on a 12A and 13B.
No difference in spindle
13B spring perch is 1/4" higher
13B total height is 1/4" taller
Difference in the radius of a stock 12A 185/70/13 tire vs stock 13B 205/60/14 tire: about 1/4".
Damper/spindle measurements may not apply to 81-83 cars since it and some of the front wheel bearing part numbers are different from 84-5's and I didn't have one to check with my calipers.
