I beleave the 83 limeted addition was a sea foam green color, and came with some spoked aluminum rims. I think it also had all power windows, and cruse. It may have came with a glass top, not sure though.

John Ball's book, "Mazda RX-7: The First Generation" says that the 1983 limited edition had "full options, a unique wheel design, and they were all painted "Chaeau Silver" The 2 or 3 that I have personally seen had red pinstriping, also.

What "full options" means is anyone's guess. I bet it was equivalent to a GSL model.

Incidentally, there was a 1979 Limited Edition model, that was painted "Beat Black". They had a special wheel, and special badges. Anyone ever seen one?

I just found one in the junkyard here in madison. It is the silver color with the red pinstripe. It had the unique wheels on it that I paid 100 bones for all four with the tires. They are pretty sweet. It did not have a clear sunroof and had a crappy cloth interior. My GSL had all the same options and leather interior. I guess they only made 5000. It is a shame that someone threw it for the junkyard.

ok i got pics of the 83 le that i was asking about, its silver with red strip and "the dealer" painted the upper the same red as the stripe. it has red cloth inter. 5 speed, drun brakes on the rear, a/c, cruise, man. windows, power mirrors. it does have 14' rims. ok now the 79 l.e. yea i have seen 2 they have a SWEET looking bumper deal, its like the stock 1 but inset a little. they also have a digital clock. and they are ALL black.

Incidentally, there was a 1979 Limited Edition model, that was painted "Beat Black".

Names her Rosanne. She was my first RX7. But, sadly I crunched her in 1996. This was the first "Black" RX7 ever. Differences were only cosmetic. more open 13 inch design wheels, digital clock, grey/black interior, badges, full options (for the time). Retro-fitted her as close to a GSL-SE as I could.

(moment of silence)

The LE was based of the GS, so no LSD, no 4 wheel discs. Basically, it's a GS with all options, special paint and 14" rims.
