Question What Are The Odds The Housings Are Good?

Ok, I have an 85 GSL-SE "parts car" that I got for $100 with interior in great shape, and the exterior is decent. The downside is that it has an engine with no compression on the rear rotor. I tried ATF and what all, but nothing changed. Now, Im thinking that it will be more economical and affordable if I pull the engine and rebuild it rather than trying to repair my 85 GSL (it has WAY more problems). So, Im thinking of getting a stage 2 (B?) rebuild kit from Atkins (Ill just drive down and get it, it will be a nice bike ride), and rebuilding the engine. However, I dont wanna crack it open to discover that its housings are trashed because of bad oiling like the 12A. I was told that the 13Bs arent as bad with this problem due to the improved oiling system. So, Im thinking that I wont really find any "surprises" in there assuming a seal hasnt ruined anything, right? And even if it has, 13B housings shouldnt be as hard to find used because they dont get destroyed as easily, right?

pull the exhaust manifold off, turn motor by hand and look into the exhaust ports make sure all 6 apex seals are there, you can also get a peek of the bottom of the rotor housing.

might try spraying that puppy with amsoil power foam or even just a can or two of brake cleaner to clean it out first. nothing to lose really.

Good call. When I try and start it, the tach jumps and everything, but it backfires a lot and thats it. I pulled the leading off the front rotor and it sounded ok, but when I pulled the leading on the trailing, I got nothing.

Ill try looking in the exhaust, why didnt I think of that? Ive been around here long enough, lol.
