What Kind Of Exhaust Leak??

Hey, I just wanted to run this by you, when my 85 GSL is running it sounds kinda loud (louder than my 85 -SE) and I think its because of an exhaust leak right under the passenger seat (or about there). Also, some exhaust comes out from under the drivers/passenger side doors (depends on which way the wind is blowing), yet most of it still goes out the tailpipe. Plus, when I reached under the car, I could move the exhaust pipes by hand and they seemed really loose, but they looked clean and nice. I didnt have a jack with me when I looked under the car, so I didnt get a really close inspection, but it looked pretty clean for being stock, and as old as it is. I know you cant really answer this question without seeing the car, but do you think that maybe its just loose bolts that I could tighten up (hence the looseness), or do you think its rotted through somewhere (even though it looks good)? This is probably a stupid question, but basically im wondering because the fact that it's loose leads me to believe that its just some loose bolts somewhere, as I dont know how sturdy the stock mounts were. Im nowhere near my car right now, otherwise I would just go look, and its one of those things where you think about it forever and you just want an answer to satisfy you ...Thanks

i had the same problem b4 with my GSL-SE. Usually the gasket between the manifold and the first pre-cat goes bad and the bolts become loose. just get the gasket for it and change the gasket. Remember to get some new luck washer so the bolt doesn't come loose,

And a can of WD40 to make getting the nuts loose easier.

Felix... I love the signature

Mine did that last week. Just run down to autozone or wherever and get a new gasket ~$5. Two bolts and viola! Alot less noise. My gasket had disentegrated and one of the bolts had actually fallen off All better now

I think you need a new exhaust... Maybe a Racing Beat or Mind Train...

No? Oh well. It's a good excuse to get one.

No links as of. I suggested them because they are a completely modular system. Buy their header, replace the stock manifold... Buy their cat back, replace your catback... Great if you wanna upgrade in pieces or have a smog friendly system. I wish I had their website. Maybe one of these days, I'll remember to put them into a search engine.

no, they don't have a websiet anywhere that I've been able to find.. (and I've tried)

But, wait there's more.....

You can call their shop at 310-836-4106 and they'll send you a free catalog. I just talked to them last night, and he said he's sending it today. I'll let you all know when I get it. Hope that helps!
