What kind of Air filter do you use?

I was wondering what is the best type of air filter to run. Currently im using fram but want to try K&N, my friend Jay told me he uses STP and that they are great air filters.. Im just curious and wondering what you all are using.

I use K&N, but it is my understanding that with my stock nikki, it basically doesn't matter what kind of filter I'm running just as long as it isn't clogged. At least I can get away with not having to buy a new filter and just clean the K&N.

I had a K&N, but got grew tired of maintaining it (washing and re-oiling), so last time it needed cleaning I replaced it with a cheapo Fram or STP. I didn't notice any difference and I use a stock Nikki (on my 12A) with all the emissions rats nest / air pump intact.

I'm going to try the RB foam filter inside a stock filter canister on the RX-4. I bet it'll make an oily mess in there.

I just got a K&N last week and noticed a small difference right away... not so much in power but in gas mileage.

To be fair however, my old disposable filter was pretty dirty and the cause of much bad mileage.

K&N filter....I seem to remember doing my own back-to-back dyno runs and picking up 3 HP at the wheels....test was done with new Fram vs. cleaned-and-oiled K&N...

In other threads I have heard exactly the opposite that the k&n filter actually makes you lose power over a paper filter for some reason... Search, I found this topic confusing as to why...

K&N makes a GREAT filter. . . for my Buick.

As for the RX7, I've found the STP (grey box) filter to be more effective.

That was definitely documented, regarding mileage, but it wasn't a 3 mph gain...

Red Rex went from 15 - 15.5 mpg to 17.75 - 18.3x mpg with just the K&N filter change...
