what the hell is wrong with my head unit

I've had this problem for 2 months now, and I've sent the unit to be repaired twice at two different locations and both times they've said theres nothing wrong with it. The unit display shows that the track is playing but theres no sound coming from my speakers. I've checked all the connections to the headunit harnass and even wired an extra ground from the - terminal. At times the unit doesn't even turn on, never mind display or play anything. I'm totally clueless on what to do, I can't get a refund, I need to get this unit to work. What can I do? Thanks...

I posted in the audio forum but I was wondering has anyone else had this kind of problem with an FB? Is this a kind of electrical problem that has to do with our cars, or am I just missing something extremely obvious?

If you cross the wires for your speakers on your deck wiring harness you can blow a channel easy. How many speakers do you have hooked up, if you only have 2 i would suggest to hook up those 2 to the oppositer channels and see what happens. Front to Rear, Rear to Front depending on what you have, got it?

Damnit, now that i've read this you said there is nothing wrong with your deck. Take a 9V battery and take the two leads from 1 speaker and place them on the battery. They should make a small pop sound and either move up or down. They should go up when you properly wire it, meaning positive on the battery and positive on the speaker and so on. If they do nothing, then either you have dead speakers or your not wiring the correct wires from one speaker to the correct wires on your deck. Usually the wires are similar in color so it should be fairly easy to figure out one speaker from another, that is if it's factory wiring. If you have New wires then mix and match speaker wires if you don't know until you get the pop. You won't harm them by mixing.

when i put a cd player in my car there were bare wires connecting the speakers in the back and whenever i would hit a bump in the road the sound would stop playing, if it was bad enough the head unit would turn off. i say get a volt meter and check all your connections. painstakingly long and frustrating process. good luck
