Do I need to go out an take a picture of a proper thermostat?

Like Jeff says: http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/pr...2&cat=0&page=1

Only shop around, that's way too much money.

Here's what you're shooting for:

i put a coolant temp guage in my last -se and suprisingly the stock temp guage was really accurate, just no numbers...

the first line above C is 65c. just to the left of center is 82-85c, fan comes on at 91c witch is just to the right of center.

it should run just to the left of center in an 84-85

Actually I looked at that video again and the engine wasn't quite fully warmed up at the time so the temp normally sits further up, about 1/3 of the way (just touching the "temp" emblem). I've tried cooler thermostats too and they do bring the running temp down, but when I did some reading I found that the experts advised against running at lower than recommended engine temps for the reasons I listed earlier, so I use the stock 185 thermostat WITH A JIGGLE PIN!

duly noted ray. I guarantee you do not drive your car like i drive mine so the lower base threshold is better for me. trust me when i drive hard it will go up higher.

Atkins sells 160's that work for the rotary!

Hey jeff what are you running for jet sizes!

My setup has only ever gone up to maybe 1/4 in the few short miles I test drove it before the clutch hydraulics went out. It has a 180° Stant that was used previously on my friend's Camden setup. Now it's on mine but I drilled a 1/4" hole through the top based on something Zenjoe did on his rotary VW. He did it to reduce the temperature shock loading and constant hot/cold cycling his setup was doing because of the long coolant hose run. I figured I'd give it a try with a Camden in a 1st gen since it was only a stupid Stant and didn't cost me anything. So far so good.
