what is going on??
here's the problem, i will be driving at a normal speed(60mph) and all of a sudden my car will start to slow down. when i try giving it more gas, it doesn't go and when the rpm's get low enough it will die. i have a weber intake kit, full racing beat exhaust, a carter fuel pump, and a holley fuel pressure regulator. after the first couple of times it did this, i retuned my car. it was fine for a day, but it did it again. i'm not sure what else to do. the engine is a brand new engine and doesn't even have 5k miles on it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and if u need any more info just ask--thanx

Sounds like you are having fuel flow issues. Besides the obvious things, such as fuel filter, pump, and lines, you could be having a fuel tank vent issue.
If the vent system is plugged up, it can cause a vacuum to build inside the tank, and the pump will soon be unable to overcome this. A simple way to test for this, loosen the fuel cap, and drive. If the issue does not arise, you have isolated the cause.

when it happens i just start the car, hopefully from a stop, but i have started it from a roll. once i start it back up, the problem goes away in a few seconds. i'll give the gas cap a try. i don't know when the next time it might act up, but if it continues i will have to fix it becuase it is pretty annoying. thanx for the help

yea, so the problem is still there and this last time i only set the gas cap on the fill neck. i did notice that it acts up more with a full tank. i'm not sure what i should do to fix this problem and i hope that i would be able to fix it with my knowledge so i don't have to take it to a shop. any suggestions would be great, otherwise, i can call my buddy and see what he thinks.--thanx

Holy crap!!! Man that thing is leaning out. It sounds like you are basically running out of fuel. I would check the fuel filter to see if its clogged. If that's not the case, I think you may have a fuel pump going out. The only other thing could be the carb has some kind of blockege.

I have had my 82 Supercharged RX7 do the same thing and all it was is a pluged up fuel filter... installed a new filter and it fixed the problem

the only problem is that when i had the new eninge put in, i also had a new fuel filter put on. do u think becuase of the increase in pressure that it picked up a lot of crap to clog it? the engine only has 5k miles on it, along with the weber intake kit. i'm going to take a look at it now and check to see if there is any debris in it. well--thanx for the info.

The stock filters are junk and not nearly adequate for use in these cars. Here is a thread I did on installing two filters in parallel, which cuts the demand on them in half; https://www.rx7club.com//showthread.php?t=528445 This is not a bad way to improve the performance and lifespan of the system between filter replacement, but there are also a lot of other suggestions (including aftermarket filters) that came into the discussion. Either way you choose to go, I would look into one of these ideas. If your filter was that dirty after that little bit of use, then you probably have a fairly dirty system. The right way to fix this would be to remove/clean/replace everything involved, but since that is such a big project this other option might be worth considering. After all, maybe the system will eventually clean itself out. I'd also run a can of Seafoam through there just for the heck of it. Good luck man.
