I think you must just mean tranny as in transmission. Most people just say " im having a problem with my tranny", instead of transmission. Just automotive slang i guess

Transmission is a generic name for the mechanical connection from the engine to the wheels. Depending on definition it includes flywheel, clutch, gearbox, drive shaft, differential, axle etc. Tranny seems to have become slang for clutch/gear box.
The list is out on a few minor points, for example SA was used for all gen 1s except the s2-3s in North America which were the only ones designated FB.
Out of interest the Savanna name was just an add on to the RX-7 name in the JDM. Savanna was first used for RX-2 models, you could even buy an estate bodied Savanna with a 10A engine. The name was also used in Japan for the RX-3. The reasons for using it on the RX-7 was simply the name was available. The original Savanna GT competed with the Skyline GT, but the new Mazda hot car used the Cosmo name. The RX-7 which was slower got the cast-off name Savanna. But not all Gen 1 and Gen 2 were Savannas, for example the Infini IV although not actually badged as a RX-7. But that is another story!
