what does an 02 sensor DO, where does it go, and what is if for?

everyone is installing em so they can tune there carb with out having to take it somewhere that has a the exhaust probe.
u can use a gauge hooked up to it or also a digital volt meter can be used too using the mV reading
i got mine waiting to be welded into in the exhaust..

It reads the amount of oxygen in the exhaust and generates a voltage signal according to the amount. Too much oxygen (engine running lean) means that their isn't enough fuel being mixed in the combustion chamber. This will create a higher voltage. If their is too much fuel (engine running rich) then the voltage will be low.

does anyone have the voltage reading we should be getting? i would search for it cus i know its come up a lot int he last few weeks but i cant..
i remeber it should be around 700-650 mV at an idle?
and a little less with the lights on?
