I love how it's looked at as a import but will pull on almost every domestic...

The handeling... The handeling.. It's all about the handeling.

my first gen has a computer that controls the engine...lol

I love never having to slow down for turns in town. The look on peoples faces {both passengers and other drivers} is classic. *Oh crap! Were gonna die....Whall I'll be dipped, we made it.*

I love the sheer stupidity of owning a 20 year old car that can kick ***. the local cops ignore my challanges now. and no one else has one and I am older than the car.

Definately the women, but a close second is the maintenance.

I love the fact that they are insanely inexpensive to keep up, but the aftermarket leaves something to be desired. Everything that is worth damn is priced higher than most of the cars value.

Otherwise, they handle great. Look classic. Are cheap. Easy to do just about any work yourself. The people in the community are great and many times will give you parts.

Hey Phil, you wanna buy mine?
well, the guy who sold his 3rd gen MB is selling his GSL-SE 85.. Its one of the cleanest car I've ever seen.. So, I'm thinking about buying it.. just don't know 5 cars at my house is practical or not..

DJ, are you going to goto the Deals Gap event?? Paul and Garfinkle are very interested in going. I have over 30 people going at this moment.

I do love the way 1sy gen look and how rare it is to see one in great shape.

Herb, here's why you need a first gen. They just keep getting better and better.

As a guy with blonde hair, the latinas already go for me. I loved the fact that the latina selling me my car insurance, who was already giving me the eye, damn near jumped my bones right there in the office when I said I had an 7.

I love that the engine only has three moving parts.

I love that when I'm working on her in the parking lot, people I've never met stop by to ask me how it's going. I've made more new friends in the last two weeks since I got her, than in the previous 6 months since I moved here.

As a guy who never really got his mind around piston engines, I love it when people say to me "I don't know anything about rotary engines" and I do.

I love that just by listening to her, I get an intuitive sense of what's going on with her.

I love that I have yet to find a reason to go into 5th gear.

Most of all, I love that sound! Accelerating through the gears, and knowing that absolutely everyone around stops for a moment and thinks "what kind of car is that?"

That's a real nice looking car Herb. If it runs half as good as it looks, it will be a real pleasure to own. How much $?

Spending more time working on it than driving it.
Working on it (I'd have to be crazy otherwise)
Getting to say "No it's not a porsche." and smile while I say that.

What rims are those Herb? RT5's??

Nice looking 1st gen....looks just like mine :-)

I owned an 83 GSL new way back when, driving the back roads in my 85 GSL-SE brings back alot of great memories.

I like the way it always makes me feel like a kid driving a go-kart with the a rocket strapped to it.

What do I like about the 1st gen RX7. Lots, I've owned four of them including by current driver. In no particular order I like:

The rotary engine (especially how it sounds under acceleration), the lean, no-nonsense lines, the rotary engine, the cockpit feel that makes you part of the car, the rotary engine, the ergonomics, the rotary engine, the tossable handling, the rotary engine, the ease of maintenance, the rotary engine, the fact that nice ones can be had for less than a measily 5 grand and of course, the rotary engine.

What do I like about my 1st gen. Rotory???

I like the:
1) non-complexity of the engine, (no valves, camshafts, ect...)
2) Size of the engine, (not much bigger than a 24 case of DEW.)
3) The fact that it is pretty much the lightest car available.
4) The size of the car, It looks like a Remote Controlled Car.
(there's more, I just can't think of them all)

Most of all, I like the fact that I am one of two people in a city of 200,000 that owns one. It turns everybodys head, even though it is tiny, it seems to be the biggest thing in the parking lot.

the sounds
the smells
the happiness
the heartache

all in all it made me a better mechanic, a better driver, and it keeps me sane in a life of poverty!
