I saw that yesterday. What makes it even better is that there's other low mileage 79s listed for far less.

Someone should let this guy know he's selling a poor man's sports car.

I don't have to remind anyone here that the '79 SA22C retailed for $6995. This guy's so optimistic that he figuers his car has appreciated over 200%

Man there are some serious crack smokers around... God how stupid!!!

After market Marantz sound system, FM/Cassette, partially operational. Original sound system included. Vinyl on driver's seat worn/torn on left hand side, clock and console lights not working. In excellent running condition and looks very nice. It has been treasured and well cared-for for 25 years.
That really makes it work 14 in my book, man is crazy LOL

Only in the US of A.... lol.... j/k guys, j/k...

That's one seriously cracked out original owner though... especially like Mike said with the aftermarket stereo that partially works, and the dash lights and other things not working.... almost original...

if he fixed the gremlins and upholstery, it might be 'worth' that amount... all original parts, all service records, low mileage, straight body, no rust...

of course appraisal value and true worth are different. What the market will pay is what the car is 'worth'.

And Matt, the original price was in 1979 dollars BMWs were going for about the same price back then, yet they're $40,000 today

If he pulls the after market sound system and fixes the little problems, he might get half.

The key here is the 25 year mark: at 25 years the car is an antique and goes up in value because guys who wanted the car when they were 20 are now 45 and have extra cash. I'm thinking of restoring a 79 for that market. Trouble is, the RX-7 is viewed as a poor mans sport car so the selling price is low and the margin is very thin.

On ebay there's a 59 Testa Rosa for $175,000, but it's a rebuild or a replica. Too bad, the last one I priced went for $6million. I was ready to sell the house and buy the TR.

according to the ebay ad, the redhead is a replicar. A detailed and faithful replica, but a replicar nonetheless.

In the late 80's Ferrari won several lawsuits that ordered such replicars destroyed, so they can be as rare as the cars they imitate. However, "Ain't nothin' like an Enzo" and this one isn't.

Maybe he accidentally hit a "1" when he entered the price, it seems about 10k too high to me.

maybe wifey is making him sell it, and he's trying to discourage buyers?

I don't live too far away from this guy, it's a shame he's asking for that much!

2/6 was also a free ebay posting day for buy-it-now's. If it didn't cost him anything to put it up there I guess I can't blame him. Kind of a waste of time, but what the hell.

Manntis, NEW BMW's are going for $40k, not a 1979 model On your other point, I think you're right. The seller has been prompted to sell for reasons that he doesn't agree with, thus the ridiculous price.

that's what I meant, though re-reading I see where it got confusing...
