hmmm i could see if it was a fiberglass or carbonfiber hood where it dose not use the factory mounts, but these people rock a factory hood. wtf is with the hood pins?

Ok, perhaps I should clarify my beehive comment. Doing a bunch of performance stuff to your car and not addressing that problem is dumb. hmmm, maybe thats not rice. OK its not, its still a gross piece of equipment.

ok, i just read everybodys response, and this guy should definatly win some kind of prize! he must be surrounded by ricers to be so detailed in his discription, and you can tell he is really upset! relax, and have a then go out and get some ricers!

Only '83-85 12A models. '81-82 still had the air/oil setup, and the '84-85 13B models had air/oil.

'83 was kind of a crossover year... it had many Series 3 changes (driveshaft/flange, rotor/flywheel weight, oil cooler) but it still technically was a Series 2.

The reason it cooks the O-rings is that it does a **** poor job of cooling the oil. Cool oil is very important since the oil is 30-40% of the rotary's cooling system.

I have everything I need to do a proper cooler swap, all hoses necessary and even the heater pipe that goes along the framerail... but I might not do it. Call it a lingering concern that a Large Immobile Object will take out the oil cooler. Thoughts of future rallycrossing instead of drag racing also factor into this.

heh, my electrics are coming on tuesday, i cant wait to get rid of the clutch fan from hell (siezed in tornado mode) and the squealing belts... 2 things i wont miss at all.

i also degreased my engine today, and fixed all but one *the tiniest one* of my exhaust leaks, and cleaned the right bay of my garage.

I saw a Civic with hood pins yesterday... it was a well trashed one and the reason it had hood pins is because evidently the hood latch failed. Evidently because the hood had some very interesting non-factory contouring to it.

Funny, it's the same reason I had hood pins on my first Subaru. When the hood opens at 50mph, it will really wake you up, it's instantaneous WHAM and you are looking at nothing but hood and cracked glass.

Hood pins are actually useful on 1st-gens. Yes, on the rear of the hood. You set it up with plates on the pins and you hold the hood about an inch or so up so hot air can escape up instead of down under the car.

To properly rice out an FB you need to rip out the rotary. Install the Honda S2000 engine(whatever it is), and slap a giant sticker on top of the windshield saying, "Powered by Acura"
