Depends on what's wrong. An engine can be rebuilt using only ~$200 or less of seals/gaskets if the components are mechanically sound and within spec. If you need to replace rotor housings, that number gets larger really quickly.

It's true. I'm going to rebuild one for $200.

The amount of work depends on what you consider work. To some people, getting out of bed in the morning is a lot of work.

$200 wtf?

I thought that it was recommended to change all the seals and whatnot.... making for a minimum 600-700 dollar rebuild. I know *I* wouldn't trust a 200$ rebuild.

I say the best estimate I could make of a *quality* rebuild would be about $1000-1500 if you do it yourself, using new apex seals, and the rest of the rebuild kit from mazda... But I'm not sure, let's see some links for rebuild kits and what you need posted up here.... we haven't really had alot of rebuild how-to stuff that I've seen pass by here... other than that 13b rebuild video by that aviation rotary place.

I think what they mean by a 200 dollar rebuild is only replacing the gaskets and o-rings and watnot. That i could see working, but for a complete rebuild ive seen them for about 1000 dollars at racing beat

All I need is a gasket set and some other soft seals and springs. If everything else is in spec, it may cost less than $200. I'll see how it goes.

Everything is coming from Mazdatrix.

I bought my last seal and gasket kits from Atkins Rotary's online store. The price overall shipped was better by about $30-50 on Mazdatrix. I think the total was about $170 and that's all the gaskets, and soft seals (read also, no apex/side/corners). Provided the ones out of the engine are within spec, I can reuse them on the rebuild without worrying. And yes - that means break out the calipers and measure them against the FSM boys and girls - no eyeballing if you want it to last
