what is.....

the piece on the inner left fender..has a throttle cable like wire coming out of it...goes into a little motor thing bolted on..with one green wire coming out?

i wanna rip it out......but im not sure what it does?..it isnt hooked up anymore anyway.....

also, while im on the subject of what is...

what do the 2 wires that come off the main wiring loom (where all the rats nest wiring crap is)..and go down between the sparkplugs do...im trying to figure out how much of this wiring harness i can rip out......

also where does the other end of this go...seems to go under the charcoal cannister......

do i need any of this other than the alternator plug??

rujnning a dellorto setup...no more mess

thanks,

Paul

1- its the hot start assist motor. Do a search on it, or better yet just, take it out and throw it really far away.

Where do the wires go? If its the side of the oil pan. One is for the oil level switch, and the other (brass hex) is the temp switch for the hot start assist. Neither are necessary to operate the car.

I had a guy tell me that w/o the hot start assist motor, the hot start assist linkage on the carb could get stuck because of the baseplate... and that you should find a way to tie it out... is this BS?

I already threw away my hot-start

****, mistake sorry. Cant edit it so heres the correction.
The brass hex is the sub-zero assist sensor.

Yes the linkage will catch. Good call Jon. Use a piece of wire and tie it up out of the way. I remove mine, but that means disassembling the primary linkage. Its a PITA if you dont know what your doing.

It goes thru the firewall. I think most of it goes to the computer.

Into the block or the oil pan? On the block theres the oil pressure sender and the coolant temp sender.

I wouldnt cut it off till you figure where these wires go dood. Look at the wiring diagram. My memory aint that good sorry.
