Whacha think about the turbo kit?

I won the auction this morning. I just hope the guy doesnt re-nig on the sale. I got all the items pictured for a measly $130.00 U.S. from yahoo japan auctions. I will be going to Japan next month to pick it up and send it home.

Its a Sigma Turbo kit with a KKK K26 Turbo for the 12a engine. Now all I need is a weber downdraft 45 carb, fuel system, exhaust and a little extra plumming. Then my little 85 GSL will be intercooled and turbo'ed.

sweet! Almost too good to be true for $130. If it works out, it was a steal

Good luck

81Rex6port13b- Its not that bad when you get to fly on the military planes for free. Then when I get there I get to stay with family since my wife is Japanese. The Turbo set up was a bonus I was planning the trip for Sept, Just got lucky surfing japanese yahoo auctions. When I pick it up from my friend Im going to check it out then take it to the post office on base to send it home. dont want to try and take that stuff on the plane.

Setzep- I was expecting the turbo to need rebuilt. looking to do it myself what I have been reading on the net its not as hard as ppl think.. Also Im thinking the rebuild kit cost about $100.00-150.00

Thanks guys

45 might be too small. You might need a 48 idf

I am putting out about 230 to the wheels at 12 lbs.

I didn't know that they made a 45 IDF, I have only seen 40, 44 and 48's.

only 230 rwhp at 12 psi. WOW isn't that extremely low for a T76?

I made 271 rwhp at about 14 psi on the stock turbo 2 turbo (87-88) with upgrades being fmic, fpr, bosch fuel pump. Oh and 243 ft/lbs or torque.

I am not anywhere near the turbo efficiency range. My car is not tuned either, just by crappy Autometer air/fuel gauge and my unique jetting capabilities.

Plus, I don't know my compression, and the motor is stock ported. When the motor blows I am going to street port the hell out of it, I should put out better numbers then.

I also feel I am having fuel pressure/ volume issues, but haven't taken care of it yet.

Wont the weber 48 idf be too big for a stock port? or will the turbo make up the difference? What do you guys think I should get for a carb. the set up is for a weber. I have a stock port now and will get the kit going on that. then next year I will be street porting an engine and using it.

BTW i called my friend in Japan that getting the set up for me and holding it till I get there. He made the bank transfer of 15000 yen about $130.00 U.S. so the deal is on I will have that set up home in about a month. Damn, I got lucky.

Thanks,
Sean
