Well, the Bug bit me hard!!!... Lookie what i got.

1979 Mazda Rx7 'S'
Red w/ Black Interior
Perfect body
Blown motor, no trans
drum/open rear
perfect glass, good carpet, perfect dash

price: $000.00

Yes, free.

Project SA Racecar here we come!!!!

pics in a few days.

this is great, because i have 3 good 12a cores that i'm gonna break open, see which is best, port the crap out of it (bridgey here we come)... then put it back together with hardened stationary gears and the racing oil pump. I also have 2 5spd trannies, one for my Daily, one for the racecar. Then i'll buy the RB roadrace header, and run dual straight back to collect at the axle, then into an N1 SS muffler probably. It'll be loud, but i think thats an acceptable bridgey exhaust setup.

i MAY switch my dellorto over to the racecar, and put the best of my 3 Nikki's on the daily driver, or look around for a used IDA (yeah, dream on). As for suspension, Illumina's all around with RB or eibach springs, and the RB front swaybar.... but that'll have to wait until i can sell the chevelle... so you know what that means guys, anyone want a Chevelle?

I'm gonna gut the hell out of it, so start listing me all the crap that can come out, so i can hop on that.... i should be bringing the car here in the next few days, so i'll be able to take pics, and start tearing into her soon.

-Kurt

i dont know about the porting really yet, i want to make more power than a big streetport, but a Peripheral port is out of the question, so that leaves J-bridge, Half-bridge and bridge.

so give me pros/cons of both.

well, the interior is as good as gone... the stock wiring is getting the boot, i'll make my own minimal harness for only what i need.

i'm thinking of putting a cage in.

let me know what large, heavy things can come out other than the ovbious.

and as far as bridgeports go, what kind of power can i make with a 12a bridgeport N/A

My interior is gutted too, I made up a dash out of fiber glass the other day. It came out fairly well, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Well if your car is an 80' then those bumpers weigh a good amount! If you can replace them you'd save a nice amount of weight.

here are is a pic of the dash I made and a few of the metal version as it sits in the car. Not too bad a fit, shold be great for guages. I guess it's sorta' race type dash but it works for me. I'd still like to play with carbon though.

Still needs to be cleaned up but it's almost done.

and I think I need to make some sorta cowl to cover up the stuff below the steering wheel. It would look much cleaner that way.

I made this one from steel but I think aluminum would be better suited for this job. Still the fiber one is pretty nice, needs paint obviously. Still better would be the CF!

I could make another in aluminum or fiber if your interested? PM me and we can work something out.

you got PM!

damn man, i'm still yearning over how those pics look. Any idea what weight you got your car down to?

i'm shooting for 2000lbs w/ driver (me, 180lbs, so that leaves 1820lbs for the car)

also, what options do i have for a Cage?
