Weird problem. Need help!
OK I was sitting on the edge of the freeway today due to another clogged fuel filter trying to get my car started to move it just a little further. I was cranking, let it sit to see if any gas could get through the old filter.. nothing. Well I finally decided to yank the old one off with bare hands and put a fresh one on. It starts and now my Tach/votmeter is stuck on the volt meter part and I have 3 dummy lights on, as if i'm trying to start it still. It will not go away and cant figure any of it out. 79 GS

Yikes.. did he mention where it was exactly? This really sucks cause I have to drive it still. It did it for a short time before I got back running, then went normal, after that I went to a parking lot and sat for a minute. Its been like that since though after i left there.

lol...I was afraid you'd ask that. He showed me, but it's been a while. I seem to remember that it was one of the relays that are attached to the driver's side fender next to the brake master cylinder...he cleaned the connections and re-installed them and my problem was gone...

Airflow is my life
I dunno if this applies to early models, but 84-85 cars have a common ground for alot of stuff on the pass side right near the headlight motor. You can see the bolt with like 3 ground terminals there. Even the damn fuel pump grounds there. Dont ask me why.

Ok this isnt a ground problem now, I dont know what it is but it is BS. What tells my car that its running so it switches back to the Tach instead of the voltmeter? please someone help.

I had the exact thing happen to my 79 just over a year ago. It is the little gold colored box on the inside of the driver side fender area right next to the master cylinder. my dad replaced it and the problem went away. i cant quite remember the name though.
