Weird Noises That Are REALLY BAD! I Think?

Ok, the 85 GSL just recently has decided to start making awkward squeaks and so on in the rear end area...Im worried about it, I love her . Anyway, my dad and I have come to the conclusion that one of them only happens when the clutch is out, including neutral. Also, it kinda squeaks while coasting, and if I pull up on the U-Turn lever it kinda goes away (im thinking brakes obviously). Also, when accelerating "quickly" from a stop, it kinda sounds like metal on metal but sort of fades out at higher speeds? Im not sure what all to check. Im thinking so far: brakes, wheel bearings, and rear end fluid. Any other suggestions would be great...Im really worried that shes gonna die or im gonna drive off the top of the rear end . Either it just recently started making the noises, or I can just hear them now cause most of the interior is gone for my sub box im putting in...Im really hoping that its just brakes or something, I cant afford anything breaking or dying

One more question...How does the e-brake work on these cars? Is it disc for the main, and shoes in a drum for the e-brake? Or is it the same for both? I guess I'll find out this weekend when I tear her apart...Any suggestions on what to do (or what not to do) during this process would be helpful too. Also, signs of wear to look for, whatever. Anything, please. Thanks.

PS - My car does have 4 wheel disc brakes, in case it matters or makes a difference

Same for both. (Caliper for E-brake too)

I'd check the U-joints, sounds like the front one is gone (chirping). Also heck the E-brake cables... if one is hanging up, it could cause the cables to go slack near the driveshaft, and rub on them sometimes.

Throw out bearing, but a throw out stops making noise when the you let the clutch out in neutral... So go with what Peejay said
