if you took off the cast iron mount for the compressor, i'd say at least 50 lbs total. just the mount weighs a ton.

Just my a/c compressor weighed in at 18lbs!! Haven't had a chance to take the rest off yet and weigh it all. Next thing to take off is that damn air pump

Do you feel like you need the power steering? Try running it a little with the belt off just to see how you like it. I did this once on my second gen and the next day ripped it all out. The feeling of being connected to the road at higher speeds is phenomenal.

Just an idea in the name of weight savings...

Remove some of the sound deadener. In Rexes it's the wool type or something, not bad but it soaks up and holds moisture which can make it heavy and rust-inducing.

Better than my old 280ZX, which had a ton of bituthane glued to the floor.

I love manual. I can go back and forth from power to manual all day! Was these manuals lacking in oil or something? Were the tires low on air?

I'm in Ontario, Canada without A/C. We are going freon-free next year, so a couple of questions.

1) Was the A/C working prior to removal?

2) I have an 84 GSL-SE (Canadian). Did it come with A/C, or just factory prep. If it came with it, it's gone, but there are firewall gaps where I asuume the hoses go, and it looks like there are mounts in the right place.

3) Anyone know the economics around installing an all-new A/C system versus a "port" ofan old A/C system? I assume I'm better off porting an existing rex system, but haven't looked into it at all.
