Weber power increase?

I’ve read 100’s of threads about people putting on Weber carburettor but I never really see power increase figures (sorry if u have put them down and I’ve missed them)
But…
I’m contemplating putting a Weber on as my next “major” power mod within the next ½ year, and I was wondering of what Kw/Horsepower I’d be looking at, my car has already.

Series 3 engine
Stock porting
2 ½ extractors
Removed air pump

Now I have 75-80Kw but what could I have with a Weber on board?

Thanks

In my experience with a stockport there is no advantage of adding a Weber rather than modifying a stock Nikki. The limitation is the ports. With what you have any upgrade of the carbs will run out at about 150bhp.

Moving on to an extended port the Nikki reaches its limitation and a IDA 48 is perhaps the best way to go. Now you are looking at about 190bhp. I was brought up on twin DCOE 45s, but from the available evidence the IDA is better on a 12A.

As Revhed has pointed out on another thread, remember the Australian dynos tend to give about 20% lower reading than the American dynos.

with modding the carb..
my secondaries have already been welded up with the primarys so they all open together..

so if i was to re jet it with larger ports then upgarde the fule system i would have the same sort of power a weber would give me??

or is there more carby mods?

there are far more carby mods such as increasing the airflow all detailed on other threads on the forum. I suggest you go search.

dyno day soon, if they let me on with my oil leaking engine ill give ya actual numbers, but for an example

i got s3 with decomp 13b with 48ida, i dragged my mate with basically same car, s2 with decomp 13b also, but only normal carb, neither of our engines have any port work, both had a passenger, i launched shitty, i got open wheeler so im wheel spinning thru first, change to second, wheel spin wheel spin, i just held it until i caught traction, my mate was half a car length ahead when i caught traction and went to 5k revs in second, by end of third id put 2 car lengths on him, so yeah, i love my weber

ok for people with no access to a super Yaw modified nikki or whatnot I suggest that a weber is 50% better than a stock nikki...this is from personal experience. If you only want numbers from a dyno I cannot provide that, but from a baseline figure on how my car ran before the 45DCOE with lakes city intake my car gained a 3 car lead over my previous trials. That is a lot...

The webers are a lot easier to tune. The nikki I had ran with slightly bigger jets, reworked pump, no choke plate, etc, and on a 79 intake manifold. It was a lot better for city driving but nowhere near the power that the weber has given my stockport specially at top rpms.

I'm actually running lean at high rpms now and I'm changing jets as we speak so I figure the increase will be a lot more from the weber. If 150hp is the limit then I don't have 150hp but I'm sure getting there. With the nikki is not that easy...

whippy summarized it better than me. "I LOVE MY WEBER"

I actually gained even more than the 2 car lengths though

hey Micky have a look at the StuBer . its a fully modded nikki carby (like a yaw one).
I have one on my 13bEP and it is great!
have a read of the site then email Stuie (the same one from AusRotary)

they work a treat and cost about the same as a STD carby rebuid from most workshops.
