Weber Carb size for stock port 12a?
I've been reading that a 48IDA is too large for a stock port 12a. Is this true? What are the thoughts on the size then for maximum power potential (streetibility is not a real concern, im building a C Street Prepared car). Would a 40 DHLA Dellorto be a good choice? Then comes the question of will the RB manifolds for said carbs worked with the smaller diameter carbs....

dell 48 if you can find one..then you would just have to jet it weber 45 dcoe..the weber 48 ida is big..but if you switch the chokes down then you will be fine...and manifolds can be found anywhere depending on what you get....upgrading your carb to a weber or dell is not going to be a cheap thing though..bc you have to upgrade your fuel system and other minor things..

okay then.
so if 48 is my target size, what manufacturer? Dellorto (if i can find one) or Weber? or maybe another? Its seems as though they are going to be somewhat close in price only the discontinued-ness of dellorto carbs makes me worried.

so i can use the racing beat side draft manifolds under the "dellorto" components with a side draft weber. Supposedly a 48 DCOE exists, but all i ever see are 45s. Plus the 48 IDA is supposedly too large as well. So i think im going to go the route of the 45 DCOE with the racing beat upper and lower manifolds for the side draft and see how it goes on the stock 12a engine.

i think with the efi setups, everyone is going bigger than 48, now most arent running a stock 12a, but ive everyones gone from 51mm to 62mm, i'd think a 48mm carb isnt too much on a stock 12a.
although i suppose if you're trying to auto-x the car, and make killer midrange, 45 might be better
just a thought

48 IDA for the win, hands down! You can change choke size...jetting...to suit any port! Don't fck around, get one carb that can do it all...they are completely streetable, will cruise smoothly, and can get pretty decent mileage, depending on how far you nail it....I can get over 200 miles on a tank easily on a streetport 12A with a porperly tuned IDA..with more response and pull over any other carb....why do you think the best EFI setup on rotaries ends up with IDA style Throttle bodies? It just works.
